ABOUT
The Bayberry String Quartet is emerging onto the concert scene with a recent appearance at Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society’s CMS Kids and inaugurating a new concert series in Pelham, New York. Other recent concerts include performances at the White Lake Chamber Music Festival, Music in the Meadows, Chamber Music @ AEIVA, and Fairlane Music Guild, among others. Only in their sixth season, they have enjoyed residencies at the STEP Birmingham Chamber Music Workshop, Peaks to Plains Institute in Colorado, and PhoenixPhest in Michigan. They have an innovative virtual presence through online collaboration and videos, including work with arranger Rami Vamos and drummer Pete Siers to perform “Frankenstein” by the Edgar Winter Group. BSQ also created a virtual chamber music approach in a program called PhoenixPhest Virtual where they coached student and professional groups across North America in a dozen online workshops. Through their individual and collaborative work, the four musicians have impacted the lives of thousands of musicians.
First violinist, Nurit Pacht, a top prize winner of several international music competitions, has recorded for Nimbus Records and Toccata Classics and earned a master's degree from Juilliard in historical performance. A former Starling Scholar, second violinist Steffani Kitayama is also a professional dancer. She is the co-founder, with her husband Gabe, of Rollin’ Practice Support, an online community for musicians. Gabe has also been a top-prize winner in national competitions and has a diverse musical career across multiple genres including jazz and nuevo tango. He is the founder of PhoenixPhest!, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to collaborative music-making. Cellist Laura Usiskin graduated from Juilliard with a Master of Music and Yale with a Doctor of Musical Arts, where she performed with the Yale Baroque Ensemble and won the Aldo Parisot Prize. She served as founder and Executive Director of the Montgomery Music Project, a program that has given music instruction to hundreds of low-income children.More
