A PERSONAL TRIBUTE TO

ANDREW GROSSMAN

In Memoriam: Andrew S. Grossman (1944–2025)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew S. Grossman, a towering figure in the world of artist management and international touring, who left us on January 27, 2025, at the age of 80. Andrew’s remarkable career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the performing arts through his work with Columbia Artists Management Inc. (CAMI) and later with CAMI Music.

Born in Queens, New York, to a Russian-Jewish father and an Irish-Episcopalian mother, Andrew’s early life was shaped by music, from his days singing in an Episcopalian boys’ choir to his rise as a visionary leader in the industry. At CAMI, where he served as Senior Vice President, tour producer, and director of sales, Andrew represented an extraordinary roster of talent—legends like Herbert von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, Vladimir Horowitz, Van Cliburn, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Mstislav Rostropovich, Maurizio Pollini, José Carreras, Rudolf Nureyev, and Deana Martin. His brilliance and tenacity brought the world’s finest orchestras and artists to stages across the globe, earning him a reputation as both a shrewd businessman and a passionate advocate for the arts.

Andrew’s contributions extended beyond artist representation. As a mastermind of international orchestral tours, he crafted experiences that captivated audiences and elevated the cultural landscape. After parting ways with CAMI in 2016, he continued his legacy with CAMI Music, freelancing alongside Jean-Jacques Cesbron and Jack Price at Price Attractions (which included relationships with William Judd, Ronald Wilford, Lawrence Tucker, Douglas Sheldon and Nelly Walter).  Into his late 70s and in recent times, Grossman devoted himself to the creation and management of major United States tours involving the world’s foremost symphony orchestras. Most recently including the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, his pet project.  His dedication never wavered even while courageously battling cancer.  A complex and dynamic individual, Andrew was a lightning rod for strong emotions—admired for his charm and intellect, respected for his toughness, and remembered for his relentless commitment to his craft. His passing, following complications from the flu and an infection during cancer treatment, marks the end of an era in artist management and touring production.

We extend our deepest condolences to Andrew’s family, including his estranged sister, Stacy, in Boston, and to the countless artists, colleagues, and friends whose lives he touched. His legacy lives on in the music that continues to resonate, the stages he illuminated, and the passion he instilled in all who knew him.

Andrew S. Grossman:   A Life in Music and Forever in Our Hearts.

With much affection,

Jack Price
