Kaiwei Zhi

ABOUT

Kaiwei Zhi is a pianist based in New York City. Over the course of his career, he has performed concerto, recitals, and chamber music all over the world.

 

Kaiwei had his concerto debut at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Kyiv playing Liszt’s La Campanella, while he was studying in R.Glier Kyiv institute of Music, with Uliana Yablobskaya since 2004. He then performed Liszt’s first piano concerto with the State Orchestra of Ukraine.

 

From 2008 to 2012 Kaiwei performed recitals in China, introducing Chinese audiences to Slavic music and won third prize of the 22nd young musician international competition ‘Citta’di Barletta’. After Kaiwei received bachelor and master’s degree in Piano performance, 2012 Kaiwei quit performing, spent a couple months in Paris meeting a new group of musicians and rediscovered his faith and desire for music. 


In 2014, Kaiwei returned to piano and performed the piano concerto “Yellow River” with ChongQing Philharmonic under the baton of ShangHai Philharmonic’s conductor Xieyang Chen in the Grand Theater of ChongQing. 2015 Kaiwei went to New York and got into Manhattan school of Music, studied with deceased maestro Phillip Kawin and got Professional Study certificate, graduated in 2017 then again studied with American concert pianist Spencer Myer. More
