Melissa Jennings is a classical concert pianist. She has had many concert experiences to date and has a varied repertoire that she enjoys interpreting. Melissa regularly discusses musical interpretations and takes the advice from highly regards consultants in Dublin music conservatories and also in London, and on occasions in Spain.  From the age of twelve Melissa was a student of John O’Conor in the RIAM (Royal Irish Academy of Music) she was in school in Dublin Ireland. When she was 18 she was awarded a place at Cambridge University, and she took a degree in law. She also availed of many opportunities to participate at university concerts, which was the reward for winning the Cambridge Instrumental AwardAt that time her piano studies continued in London with Professor Christopher Elton (Royal Academy of Music), who encouraged her to develop her piano repertoire and further her musical education. While still at university Melissa took a course of lessons with famous Italian teacher, Madame Maria Curcio, and this involved greater attention to technical studies as well as discussions about piano repertoire.

Melissa’s dream to be a pianist was realized some years later (she was employed in a major law firm before the economic downturn). She was delighted to take the opportunity to return to piano and she went on to completdegrees in music performance with the guidance of Dr David Mooney, Head of Keyboard in DIT (Conservatory of Music and Drama, DIT). Today she continues also her contact with Christopher Elton in London who is able to advise her in relation to performances.

Recently, Melissa has given two successful piano recitals at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. The music she selects to perform is taken from music she has been introduced by other musicians and teachers. For example, she was especially interested to learn the Fantasia Baetica by Manuel de Falla, a work she first came across while on a scholarship to the Santiago de Compostela course while a schoolgirl. A challenge to playit is nonetheless a piece that she loves. She enjoys the many references here to the Andalucian region and the famous flamenco style Melissa has spoken Spanish most of her life.
