Salvatore Andolina

ABOUT

In the greater world of music, cross-over artists will always be a rare item. But the challenge to swing freely between the classical repertoire and the realm of jazz has been met straight away by the sax and clarinet virtuosity of Sal Andolina.

As a touring artist, Sal has appeared at major venues across the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and in Los Angeles on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. His international performances include a recent recital tour in Japan.

Since 1994, Mr. Andolina has held the position of clarinetist, bass clarinetist and saxophonist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, where he has been featured as a supporting soloist with Marvin Hamlish and Doc Severinsen, and a continuing variety of distinguished artists including Diana Reeves, Anne Hampton Callaway, Natalie Cole, Megan Hilty, Melinda Doolittle and John Pizzarelli. Sal’s variety as an artist allows him to be spotlighted as a saxophonist on the BPO’s Rock and Pop series, soloing with various tribute bands and stars from America’s Got Talent.

In addition to appearing as a soloist with Joann Falletta and the BPO, Sal has appeared with the New York City Pops at Carnegie Hall with Marvin Hamlisch, performed the Artie Shaw Concerto with Peter Nero of Philly Pops, and was soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic, the Grand Rapids Symphony, Niagara Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra among others.  More
